Privacy Policy

Effective date: 6 August 2026

1. Introduction

SlotCut (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a salon discovery and appointment-booking platform. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the SlotCut mobile app or our website at slotcut.in (together, the “Service”).

If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at benagonapps@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create a SlotCut account we collect your name, mobile phone number (used as your account identifier), and a password (stored only in securely hashed form — we cannot read it). You may optionally add an email address in your profile.

Location information

With your permission, the app uses your device’s precise or approximate location to show salons near you and to display them on a map. You can also set your location manually. The location you use (coordinates and city) is saved to your account so we can show relevant salons the next time you open the app. If device location is unavailable, we may estimate an approximate location from your IP address. You can decline the location permission and choose your city manually instead.

Bookings and activity

As you use the Service we store your appointment bookings, walk-in queue entries, reviews and ratings you write, your favourite salons, and any loyalty points you earn or redeem.

Push notifications

If you allow notifications, we store a push-notification token for your device (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you booking confirmations, queue updates, and similar service messages. The token is removed when you log out, and you can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

What we do not collect

The SlotCut customer app does not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not request access to your camera, photos, or contacts.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account and sign you in securely.
  • To show salons, services, and availability near your location.
  • To create and manage your appointments and walk-in queue positions, including sharing the necessary details with the salon you book.
  • To send you service notifications such as booking confirmations and queue updates.
  • To display your reviews and ratings to other users and to the salon.
  • To operate loyalty programs, respond to support requests, and keep the Service safe and reliable.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Payments

Bookings are currently paid directly at the salon. Where online payment is available, it is processed by our payment partner Razorpay. Your card, UPI, or bank details are handled by Razorpay under its own privacy policy — SlotCut never stores your card or bank details. We keep only a record of the transaction (such as amount, payment status, and a payment reference) linked to your booking.

5. How we share information

  • Salons you book with: when you make a booking or join a queue, the salon sees your name, phone number, and the details of your booking so they can serve you.
  • Service providers: we use Google Maps Platform (maps, place search, and approximate IP location), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), Razorpay (online payments, where available), and cloud hosting providers to run the Service. They process data only as needed to provide these functions.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of SlotCut, our users, or others.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

6. Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, the data that identifies you is erased at once (see section 7). Booking, review, and payment records are kept beyond that point as salon business records and to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations, but they are stripped of the details that identify you, so what remains is no longer personal data about you.

7. Account and data deletion

Deleting your account in the app

You can permanently delete your SlotCut account at any time from the app, without contacting us: open Profile → Settings → Delete Account, confirm that you understand the deletion cannot be undone, and confirm once more. Deletion happens immediately — there is no waiting period, no recovery window, and no way to restore the account afterwards. You are signed out on every device straight away.

What is erased

Your name, phone number, email address, saved location and profile photo are removed from your account record, and your password and notification tokens are destroyed. Your favourite salons, loyalty point balances and notification history are deleted outright. Any booking still awaiting payment is cancelled. The phone number is released, so you are free to register a new account with it later.

What salons keep, and why

Bookings, payments and reviews are business records belonging to the salons you visited, and payment records in particular must be retained to meet legal and accounting obligations. These records survive the deletion, but your name and contact details are removed from them, so they no longer identify you — a salon sees a past appointment with no customer attached. Reviews you left stay published without your name.

When deletion has to wait

We will not delete your account while you have an upcoming appointment or are waiting in a walk-in queue, because a salon would be left holding a slot for someone who no longer exists. Cancel the appointment or leave the queue, then delete the account — the app tells you which of these is in the way.

Salon owner and staff accounts

A salon owner deletes their account from the SlotCut Owner app instead, under More → Delete Account. Because a salon is not one person’s data — staff depend on it for work and customers hold bookings against it — that request opens a 30-day grace period rather than deleting on the spot: the salon stops taking bookings and staff are locked out, but nothing is destroyed and the owner can cancel the deletion by signing in again at any point in those 30 days. The owner account deletion page sets out the full process, including what happens to staff accounts. Staff cannot delete a salon they do not own; to remove your own staff account, email us.

Deleting by email

If you cannot sign in, or you have uninstalled the app, email us at benagonapps@gmail.com from the email address on your account, or include the phone number you registered with so we can verify the request. We will action it within 30 days, on the same terms as above.

8. Security

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and sign-in tokens on your device are kept in your device’s secure storage. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

9. Children

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights

You can view and update your name, email, and saved location in the app’s profile settings, and change your password at any time. You can also delete your account outright from the app — see section 7. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. We handle requests in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. To exercise any of these rights, or to raise a grievance about how your data is handled, email benagonapps@gmail.com.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
